Philosophy
True business growth isn't just quick wins—it's about pursuing what's important and meaningful for the business and the customer. As I've learned from my adventures in business here in the US and Africa, worthy aims push us. We are taught by failure as we develop the resilience to carry on, using these lessons to find that elusive success. Harnessing inspiration that "moves the needle" in unexpected ways, turning setbacks into setups for success. Let's build a business that's not just profitable, but purposeful and sustainable.
Vision
Do you have a vision for your business? Has it been communicated to the company? Is it a vision that motivates and brings meaning to our work? Let's do some soul searching and discover the vision that checks the boxes. Aims at something larger, a lofty ultimate goal. While fulfilling your personal goals, fulfilling your employee's goals and brings a greater meaning to the struggle than mere dollars and cents.
What do your customers think?
My experience is that most executives have been lulled into a false notion that their product or service is excellent. Whether that is from employees covering themselves or merely afraid to mention shortcomings to the boss doesn't really matter. Executive ignorance is a serious blind spot. Let's set up some customer interviews and not just of the 2 or 3 big customers, a random sampling. Let's find out what it would take for them to sing your praises rather than remain apathetic.
